You bring me to edges, and
the bounds of my world collapse
our hearts filling our faces with blood
bare millimeters that one sharp blade
could painlessly loose.
In my exhaustion your hands become
stepping-stones, you count aloud;
it will soon be your turn, I
the one urging
your body expanding, coiling.
The universe condenses to one
muscular star, clenching, releasing;
spirit a spinning plate we take turns supporting--
I hate you, I love you,
and I keep returning.
We are the truth, the bitter empty sting,
we do it ourselves-- there is no proof:
you send me away until I am snagged again,
between organs and tissues, I fall into you;
gently, you steer me back to myself.
